NEW YORK (AP) - Folks in the East may have thought the Fourth of July weekend was hot, but even hotter weather is due today and tomorrow.
With the mercury expected to hit triple digits in some areas, people are cranking up their air conditioners and fans and power companies are expecting to break peak usage records.
Philadelphia is still dealing with yesterday's power outages. About 8,000 lost power when the increased load blew fuses at transformers. Less than 2,000 are still without power. And New
York's Consolidated Edison says hundreds of customers have no power today.
Davey Adams says he's a forklift driver at a warehouse in Philadelphia that has fans, but no air conditioner. Adams says he'll soak a washcloth in cold water and wear it on his head.
