GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The National Weather Service says a severe thunderstorm warning for Mesa and Delta Counties has now expired.

Forecasters say the storm that prompted the warning has weakened and severe wind gusts are no longer expected.

At 6:37 p.m., National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour was moving into our area.

Meteorologists say these storms are also capable of producing destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain.

Fire and rescue agencies across the Grand Valley responded to numerous calls of downed trees and power lines Sunday evening.
