GRAND JUNCTION, CO (KKCO)_With less than a month to the official start of summer some are thinking about sun worshiping while others are worried about looking like a lobster.
Either way, it's National Don't Fry Day, and we're not talking about french fries, Twinkies or ice cream.
The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention encourages everyone to protect their skin today and everyday.
The American Cancer Society estimates one American dies every hour from skin cancer, and experts have advice on how you can protect yourself. Limit sun exposure when you can and use sunscreen. Preferably a sunscreen that is SPF 15 or greater.
Having some exposure to sun helps your body naturally produce Vitamin D which according to some research can help prevent other forms of cancer.
But if you have to be bronzed to be beautiful, experts suggest using a sunless self tanning product and then continuing to apply sunscreen to protect your skin.
