DENVER (AP) - The threat of major flooding in Colorado is receding, but the National Weather Service still has flood warnings for portions of the Colorado and Elk Rivers and advisories for several other basins.

Hydrologist Aldis Strautins said Tuesday some areas of northern Colorado still have a lot of snow, but he believes the risk of flooding is starting to go down.

He said water in many rivers will continue to run high.

The Weather Service says warmer temperatures are keeping water levels on portions of the Elk and Colorado Rivers near flood stage through Thursday.

Advisories have been issued for the Cache La Poudre, and rivers in Jackson County.
