Mesa County, Colo. (KKCO) - Colorado's wines are in the spotlight this week. Governor John Hickenlooper has declared this Colorado's first-ever wine week. He's hoping to rev-up interest in locally-made wines.

Nancy Janes owns and operates Whitewater Hill Vineyards in East Orchard Mesa. She says it's been a rough few years for growers.

Janes and her husband grow at least 9 varieties of grapes, including Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Reisling. She says last year, she was only able to harvest 30 percent of her crop.

This year, she says she thinks this year will be much more successful, with up to 80 percent harvested.
