US 550 ‘Million Dollar Highway’ back open

OURAY, Colo. (KKCO) - US 550, or “Million Dollar Highway” is back open after being closed on Tuesday afternoon over Red Mountain Pass.
Adverse weather conditions on Tuesday including high winds, blowing snow, low visibility, and high accumulations of snow made avalanche mitigation operations impossible to perform, according to CDOT, which caused the lengthy closure.
CDOT says that crews reported more than 18 inches of fallen snow just in the first few hours on Tuesday.
