UPDATE: July 22 10:50 a.m. | GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Embattled Mesa County Clerk & Recorder Tina Peters has turned herself in to the Pitkin County Jail. This marks the third time Peters has been jailed.

She has been charged with contempt of court and turned herself in at 9:22 p.m. Thursday night, but was released after posting a $1,000 cash bond at 10:24 p.m. The warrant was issued for violating her bond agreement by contacting Mesa County Elections workers. This is the second time in less than a month that Peters has violated her bond agreement.

Peters was first arrested in February of 2022, after allegedly making an illegal recording of courtroom proceedings with an iPad. Shortly after, Peters was jailed for the second time in March of 2022 after being charged with multiple felonies. This is her second incident with law enforcement this month, as an arrest warrant was issued just over a week ago after Peters violated her bond conditions by traveling out of state.

The embattled clerk continued to support the election fraud conspiracy theory after Pam Anderson won the Republican nomination for Secretary of State in 2022′s primary election earlier this summer. Peters claimed that Anderson did not win legitimately, and that Secretary of State Jena Griswold had “flipped” the votes. Peters came in third with 28% of the vote.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is in hot water– again.

This time the focus is an emailed letter she sent to Mesa County Director of Elections Brandi Bantz requesting the county conduct a recount of Peters’ loss in the GOP race for Secretary of State.

Peters is not allowed to have contact with anyone in the County Clerk’s office.

Under the conditions of her bond as a result of 10 felony and misdemeanor counts of tampering with election equipment and misconduct in office, Peters is not allowed to have any contact with anyone in her office.
