UPDATE | May 8, 3:30 p.m.

GATEWAY, Colo. (KKCO) - More details have emerged after a man and his ATV were swept into West Creek.

94-year-old Michael Olshove was found roughly a quarter mile downstream by a sheriff’s deputy. The deputy reported that Olshove was unconscious and not breathing, and was not able to be resuscitated.

According to a witness who called 911, Olshove was working on his property when he accidentally backed his ATV into West Creek, where he was swept away.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and its Search and Rescue Swift Water Team, the Gateway Fire Department, and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the call at around 3:15 Saturday.

GATEWAY, Colo. (KKCO) - On Saturday afternoon, Mesa County Search and Rescue responded to an ATV accident near Gateway.

The ATV ended up in the river and the individual driving was pronounced dead.

An investigation is still ongoing and we will keep you updated online and on-air.
