(Gray News) - A portion of a parking garage collapsed Tuesday at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, authorities said.

Video shows a portion of the top, third-floor level of the garage collapsed, with some cars having fallen and one dangling.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office initially called it an “industrial incident” in a post on X shortly after noon, and said an entrance to the emergency room was closed.

No injuries have been reported. First responders searched the scene to make sure no one was trapped, and authorities said late Tuesday afternoon that nobody was found, WJXT reported.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Chief Keith Powers said after the search he was “pretty confident” everyone was safe, but he couldn’t yet say for sure that everyone was accounted for, according to WJXT.

Powers said there was “some kind of structural failure” in the parking garage shortly after noon, but it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the failure, WJXT reported.

Powers said structural engineers will need to evaluate the integrity of the building and searchers will need to get “actual eyes” on each of the vehicles in the garage, which was searched Tuesday by officers, drones and K-9s, the Florida Times-Union reported.

“A couple of vehicles are mashed pretty flat,” Powers said, according to the Florida Times-Union.

A witness told the paper he “heard a loud boom and the building shook” while he was checking in for a doctor’s appointment at the hospital, after which he and others began to evacuate the building.
