Russell Cross

Russell Cross is the News Director for KKCO NBC11 News and KJCT ABC8 News in Grand Junction, Colorado. In this role, he is responsible for leading the team that produces all content for KKCO and KJCT including television newscasts, nbc11news.com, and kjct8.com. Russell has spent over 20 years in a variety of broadcast roles before joining the KKCO and KJCT Teams. Most recently Russell worked for CNN at the Washington, DC Bureau. During his time at CNN, he covered numerous stories including, The January 6th Insurrection, Presidential Inaugurations, Congressional Elections, and International Affairs.

Before moving to Washington, DC, Russell worked in a variety of media roles including, Head of Media Production and Marketing for The University of Kentucky’s College of Arts and Sciences, CNN New York Bureau, covering politics and domestic breaking news. He has held roles as a reporter, anchor, producer, photographer, and editor nationwide, at stations including but not limited to Denver, Miami, Phoenix, Cincinnati, Little Rock, and Shreveport.

Russell attended Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas where he studied Kinesiology and Mass Communications.

He has been a member of The National Press Photography Association since 2001, garnering many NPPA Awards, along with multiple Emmy and Murrow Awards.

Russell is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves all things basketball and is a huge Houston sports fan.
