2 taken to hospital after car versus motorcycle crash

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Two people are in the hospital after a crash Monday morning.

It happened near 9th Street and Pitkin Avenue in Grand Junction, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

A car and a motorcycle crashed in the middle of the intersection of those roads. According to police on scene, the man on the motorcycle broke a femur and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

The motorcycle rider was apparently wearing a helmet.

We know a person who was in the car was taken to Community Hospital. Police are investigating to see what led up to the crash.

We're told they believe someone ran a red light.

They are reviewing video from nearby businesses to see what exactly happened. If you were in the area and saw the crash, you are encouraged to call police right away.
