MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Parents may soon begin applying for School District 51's School of Choice program.
The application submission windows open at 10 a.m. on March 6.
Parent who apply have the chance to enroll their child(ren) in a school that is outside of normal attendance boundaries.
The application window closes on March 31 at 4 p.m., the district said.
Parents can apply online (link to the right of this story), or they can use computers at the Emerson Building at 930 Ute Ave.
The district said applications are accepted on a first-come, first--served basis and are based on a school's projected enrollment.
Acceptance or denial letters will be mailed to parents on April 14, according to the district's press release.
The process includes traditional schools, but does not include the Dual Immersion Academy, New Emerson or charter schools within the district.
The International Baccalaureate program at Palisade High School, the Challenge Program at East Middle School, or R-5 High School are not included in the process, the district said.
