416 Fire expected to hit homes on Friday

A wildfire that's ripping through southwestern Colorado is expected to hit homes Friday.

Firefighters issued the evacuation of nearly 500 homes in the town of Hermosa the 416 fire continues to burn in the nearby city of Durango.

So far, the week-old wildfire has blackened nearly eight square miles, but no buildings have been burned.

Firefighters plan to use propositioned sprinkler systems, fire hoses and aircraft to protect the homes.

They also have scouted out places to build fire lines to limit the fire's growth.
