GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Central High School seniors took a step toward their future at their graduation on Monday morning.
Nearly 300 students turned their tassels to say goodbye to high school, and hello to new opportunities in the future.
Central kicked off graduation season in District 51.
Wyatt Hurt is going to Harvard University next year to study government.
“I’m definitely very grateful for my friends and my family, all the great staff at Central and I’m excited about the next chapter,” Hurt said.
Jared Leblow, Central High School’s valedictorian, said he’s worked hard over the past four years for this day.
“The teachers at Central are amazing,” Leblow said. “They developed my interest in science and kept pushing me to do better.”
District 51 said some of the students who graduated Monday morning were part of the new STEM program. Those students specifically focus on science, technology, engineering and math throughout their education.
