The Delta Police Department said officers were looking for Fred H. Houghton IV in the Garnet Mesa area. He had several warrants out for his arrest and was running from law enforcement on foot.

Houghton, 29, of Cedaredge, is described as being a white man who is a little taller than 6 feet, about 185 pounds and has short brown hair with hazel eyes, according to police. He was reportedly last seen wearing a long-sleeved green shirt, blue jeans, a black hat and sunglasses. He was not wearing shoes.

Several nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdown included Garnet Mesa Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Vision School and Delta High School. That was lifted later in the day and students got out as normal.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call dispatch at 970-874-2015.
