MCSO: Missing teen found safe

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- UPDATE: Investigators located Ciara Bugay Friday afternoon at a home in Mesa County, according to the sheriff's office. She is back with her family safe and well.

Original story: Local authorities are looking for a teen who reportedly ran away from home and has medical needs.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said Ciara Bugay, of Fruita, reportedly ran away Wednesday night. The 17-year-old is a Type 1 diabetic and gets insulin every day through a pump. She reportedly has enough to last her until Saturday night.

She was last seen wearing jeans, tall brown boots, a red shirt and had a tan and ivory-colored cloth backpack. She is described as being 5 foot 2 and 147 pounds with brown hair, green eyes, and a tattoo that reads "Take These Broken Wings" on her left forearm.

She has been communicating with her family through social media but hasn't come home yet, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

The sheriff's office said Bugay is from Craig, originally, and has ties to Parker, but is living in Fruita.

Anyone with information is asked to call 970-242-6707.
