GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The bond has been set for a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend.

The Grand Junction Police Department said Morgan Dumas, 21, later died from her injuries. On Monday, her boyfriend Oscar Rodriguez was in court. Many of Morgan's friends were in court.

Police said the couple had a history of domestic violence. In September, police were called to their house and Morgan was arrested.

As for Rodriguez, he has not officially been charged with her death, but the district attorney's office said they plan to file homicide charges against him. He is being held on a $1 million cash bond.

According to court papers, Rodriguez called police to their home the day after he said he knocked the woman unconscious and she never woke up.

He is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 21.
