14-year-old in serious condition after 'accidental' shooting, police say

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A 14-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Grand Junction early Monday morning.

Police said it was an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the abdomen.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of Hill Avenue in Grand Junction.

Police said Grand Junction fire crews got to the scene and took the teen to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said they are investigating and conducting interviews to figure out what happened.
