Palisade students bringing 'Oklahoma!' to Colorado

PALISADE, Colo.(KKCO/KJCT)-- Students in the performing arts program at Palisade High School are making last minute preparations for their musical presentation.

This year students will present Rodgers' and Hammerstein's 'Oklahoma!'.

'Oklahoma!' is Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road.

Students have been working since this past summer to put the show together.

Show dates are Jan. 18, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. All shows are at Palisade High School, 3679 G Road.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students. Tickets are available at the door. All proceeds will go to benefit the performing arts department at Palisade High School.
