Woman, 89, killed in car crash on Hwy 550

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- One woman was killed and a man was hurt in a car crash on Highway 550 Thursday night.

Colorado State Patrol said a 67-year-old woman was headed south on Highway 550 near mile marker 110 in a Honda Pilot when her car drifted into oncoming traffic. She crashed into a Toyota Tundra that tried to swerve to avoid her car.

The passenger in the Honda died. CSP identified them as an 89-year-old woman from Ouray.

The 57-year-old man driving the Toyota was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

The driver of the Honda was not hurt, CSP said. Drugs, speed and alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash.

No identities were released.

CSP is investigating. They did not have an immediate information on charges.
