GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The FBI is sending out a questionnaire to help with their investigation into a Western Colorado funeral home.
Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors in Montrose has removed their sign since the company was given a cease and desist order last month.
Initially, allegations surfaced they were doubling as a body broker, buying and selling body parts. and customers say losing body parts across the world.
An investigation by the state revealed that some families said that their loved one's ashes were swapped for dry cement.
The FBI's questionnaire includes questions about the relationship to the deceased, consent to body donation and how much customers paid.
The FBI says they'll be testing select cremains, and will be working with CMU.
"We are going to use social work students to intake and talk to the families," said Melissa Connor, the director of forensic investigation research at Colorado Mesa University. "We are going to house students at the forensic investigation research station who have a background in bones and actually a biological consultant."
You can email your contact information to email@example.com and they will email you the link to the questionnaire once it is available online.
