GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Beginning Thursday, Rim Rock Drive near the Grand Junction entrance of the Colorado National Monument will be closed for more than a month because of a construction.
This is the second phase of the project which involves resurfacing and repairing the road from the Devil's Kitchen trailhead all the way to Cold Shivers Point. The Devil's Kitchen trailhead and picnic area may be closed for a day or two as paving is completed.
During this time, bikes and vehicles traveling to Glade Park need to use little park road as a detour.
DS Road will be open to one-way traffic with a pilot vehicle escorting drivers through the construction zones.
Visitors will still be able to use the Fruita entrance for access to hikes and the visitors center.
This part of a three-phase project that's scheduled to wrap up in July.
