CDOT looking for winter workers

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- September is just getting started, but the Colorado Department of Transportation is already thinking ahead to winter.

CDOT wants people to know they are hiring for the upcoming winter season, and have over 100 permanent and seasonal positions open.

Applicants must have a Colorado class A or B commercial driver’s license, and experience with heavy equipment and labor.

CDOT says they have to hire for winter early because it’s better to be safe than sorry.

“Living in Colorado, we’ll see a storm blow through in September, and we are already in September, and wreak havoc on the highways, so we start early. It's also just a challenge to fill the positions that we have so it's important for us to get the word out that we are looking to hire," said spokesperson for CDOT, Tracy Trulove.

While some experience is preferred, CDOT says they are willing to take applicants that are brand new to the department.
