GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- United Way of Mesa County kicked off their fundraising campaign Tuesday.
They hosted a luncheon at the Mesa County library to thank businesses for getting involved with the organization.
29 local companies called “Pacesetters” began fundraising last month by encouraging their employees to donate to United Way through payroll deduction.
“So today we’re kicking off the regular campaign, ‘pacesetters’ kicked theirs off early last month. So they have already raised a portion of this million dollar goal that we’re going for. Typically, the ‘Pacesetters’ raise about 40 percent of the overall total that comes in for the year,” said Kristi Adams, United Way Campaign Cabinet Co-Chair.
United Way donates money to 43 local non-profit organizations.
The Mesa County division is hoping to raise one-million dollars this year.
They say, the money raised in Mesa County will be used in Mesa County.
