Grand Junction mom asking for yarn to make hats for area kids

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It is cold outside, and for many in the Grand Valley, it can be tough to stay warm—including kids. One Grand Junction woman is hoping to help just a little bit.

Breanne Keppler said she noticed kids at her children's schools walking without hats and gloves, and knew they must be cold. She knits, and figured she could help. She put an ad out on Facebook asking for donated yarn so she could make hats for children. She has already received bags full of yarn and people offering to help, but her goals are big.

"There's a lot of kids in this Valley that go without warm hats during the winter and I want to make sure that I can help put a hat on as many heads as I can,” said Keppler.

She would like to give 50 hats each to Appleton and Tope Elementary Schools, West Middle School and Grand Junction High School because her kids attend those schools. She said the thicker the yarn, the warmer the hat. If you'd like to donate reach out to her on the link on the side of the article.
