GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Many in the Grand Valley said goodbye to President George H.W. Bush and remembered experiences with the former President.

A Grand Junction pilot once flew the former President in Texas. He picked up George H.W. Bush from Houston and took him to an event in El Paso and back. In those few hours, Erling Brabaek said, he met a man he hoped to one day be like.

“Rarely do you met someone where you can just see that they just feel passion about whatever they're talking about,” said Erling Brabaek, who flew the President once. “That is really what I felt with him, the few hours I spent with him.”

Brabaek was 33 when he flew the President and said he was humble, friendly and genuine.
