Precious mementos in stolen purse returned

CLIFTON, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A woman's precious photos are returned after making a plea on our news shows.

Over the Christmas Holiday, we reported a local hospital chaplain had her purse stolen at the Dollar Tree in Clifton. Some of the contents stolen included: her personal and work cell phones, her wallet and some priceless family photos. On Friday morning, she got them back.

She didn't get her money or gift cards back, but all of her keepsakes were sent to a hotel that she had previously lived. Rita Ricciuto received a call from the hotel and went to pick up the mysterious envelope and was surprised to find her beloved photos.

"My brother, my dad, my mom have passed away. And so, they were pictures that I could never get back again. So, I was so thrilled. They even returned my inhaler which I didn't even realize that I was missing!" said Rita Ricciuto, theft victim.

She says she plans to send the person a "thank you" card for returning her priceless mementos.
