GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- UPDATE: The man police say shot guns inside a house on Rodell Drive and threatened to shoot law enforcement Friday night has been identified as Christopher Masten, 33, of Grand Junction.
That’s according to a press release from the Grand Junction Police Department Saturday morning.
Masten was taken to the Mesa County Jail on charges of illegal discharge of a firearm, shooting a firearm into an occupied residence, and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, among others.
Original story: Heatheridge Estates was put in a shelter in place Friday evening after police got a report of shots fired in the neighborhood.
That shelter in place has since been lifted and an adult male was taken into custody, without charges as of Friday night.
The Grand Junction Police Department says he came out of the home without incident and nobody was injured, but it had residents on high alert.
"Earlier we heard gunshots," Julie Knestis, a resident in the area said. "We thought it was our TV but it didn't turn out because it was really loud."
As of Friday night the police department has not released the identity of the suspect. We will update this article when we learn more about the man in custody and possible charges.
