GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- We'll be seeing some new faces in Grand Junction City Council this Spring, with several members reaching their term limit. Grand Junction local Dennis Simpson has announced his campaign for the at-large seat.
Dennis Simpson says he is running for city council because he feels that people have been left in the dark when it comes to transparency in city council.
He feels that taxpayers are not always told where their money will be spent, and thinks people in the city should have the right to decide where city funds are used.
He says funding for things like police and fire staff should be a higher priority in the eyes of the council, and while he respects the current council members, he wishes there was more communication.
"I don't think its right that the elected people do not communicate more directly with, not just me, but other people that come to speak to them. I think, if I am elected, that is one of the things that I will try to change," Simpson said.
Dennis will be running for Chris Kennedy's at-large seat, and his term is up in May.
