Threat made against Fruita Monument High School

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- District 51 says they got a Safe2Tell tip on Thursday night about a threatening social media post directed at Fruita Monument High School, because of that tip, law enforcement was able to find the person who made the post.

District 51 did not give details about the person who made the threat in a Facebook post sent out Thursday night, but did say that that person would not be in class on Friday.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says after interviewing the person involved and looking at the social media post in question, there is no threat to any person or school.

As a precaution the district says there will be extra security at the school on Friday.

District 51 wants to remind you that this situation ended safely because someone chose to use Safe2Tell. You can utilize that service by downloading the app, going online or calling 1-877-542-7233. It is an anonymous service.
