GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Mesa County has done much better dealing with the flu this season, but officials say we aren't out of the woods yet.
We still don't have any flu deaths this season, but doctors say flu season isn't going away any time soon.
According to Mesa County Public Health, since February 23rd there have been 13 flu hospitalizations, and 101 total since the end of September.
"It's very common, to have flu peak at different seasons depending on how people are moving around. The more people that get their flu vaccine, the less cases we often see because of that herd immunity, and more people are protected, at least for the ones that are in the vaccine," said M.D., Patrice Whistler.
The main demographic in the hospital is newborns to 4 years old, but the 65 and up category isn't far behind.
