Bray report: Fewer houses for sale, prices up

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The February Bray Real Estate shows business is still good despite fewer homes around the valley.

The company says there are less houses for sale, and there are also less building permits being filed. Last February, permits were at a ten year high, over 120, but only 89 were filed last month.

The average price of a home is around $250,000, which is more than $20,000 higher than this time last year.

"If you look last year, our inventory was down all of last year, but our transactions were still up. So what it tells you is that there was actually more inventory that was put on the market, it was just selling at a faster pace," said Development Coordinator, Kevin Bray.

The company expects more houses to go on the market into Spring and Summer.
