FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It was the grand reopening of the Fruita DMV Tuesday. The ceremony brought together members of the public as well as previous and current city leaders.
It's located inside City Hall at 325 East Aspen Avenue. That's where it was originally located before closing back in 2016.
The building was sitting vacant since the closure. The office space is provided free of charge to the county all they have to pay is utilities.
"One of the biggest complaints we received is oh the DMV is closing and so having it open back up I know there's a lot of our local citizens who are excited that they don't have to drive into junction it’s right here,” said Joel Kincaid, Fruita Mayor.
"People were coming from Loma and Mack to the central office so I believe this is going to be a lot more convenient,” said Tina Peters, Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.
The branch will only be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 5pm.
