Urban trails committee looks to new challenges

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- The Grand Junction Urban Trails Committee is hoping to make the city a safer and more fun place to do things like drive your car and ride your bike.

They say one of their biggest goals for 2019 is to make finding your way around the city, especially when you're on a bike, easier.

They're working on way-finding techniques to make sure bike routes, signs and markings on the pavement are all clear and easy to use.

They say it's a safety issue, and a way to make the city more friendly.

"Safety is a huge factor in it, ease and navigation for people that are new to the area, whether it's tourists or it's new students, even locals who might be riding for the first time,” Orin Zyvan, chair for the Grand Junction Urban Trails Committee, said.
