GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT/KKCO) -- Since 1996, Fifth Reel has been playing Irish music in the Grand Valley.

Ahead of St. Paddy's Day Sunday, they're bringing the musical traditions of the "Emerald Isle" to life for folks at Capella of Grand Junction, a senior living community.

Michael Aiuto, the weekend activity coordinator at Cappella said, "You'll get residents who are really inside their own heart, and they hear music and just light up! It really brings them out. They love music and we love having music here."

All year long, band members are instrumental in gathering 'trad' musicians for jam sessions at with the Fifth Reel group. This gives local hobbyists a place to gather and play, fostering a sense of community, and preserving a tradition from across the pond.

Those sessions take place every other Wednesday. They meet at Rockslide on Main Street at 6 p.m.
