Downtown Assisted Living closes, for sale after just two months of operation

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- It opened on February 4th, now it’s listed on realtor.com.

Downtown Assisted Living appears to be empty. There is no one at the desk, and no one in the parking lot during ordinary business hours.

This weekend, Grand Junction police responded to the location after they were told a resident was still inside the apparently abandoned building.

We're told the man had contacted another assisted living facility, The Lodge at Grand Junction. When their teams arrived to talk with him about moving to their site, they say they found him alone.

“It was abandoned, there was nobody around, the lights weren’t on," Sarah Lamonica, with The Lodge said. "It was really sad. We walked around a little bit and you could smell rotting food. It just wasn’t a good environment.”

We’re told police do not believe the man was abandoned, but rather he had been allowed to stay in the building for a short period of time. We reached out to Downtown Assisted Living for comment and have not heard back.
