GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A portion of I-70 may have a lower speed limit, but it looks like many of you, aren't taking a look.
According to Colorado State Patrol, there have been four verbal warnings, two speeding tickets and one written warning issued between 22 Road and Horizon Drive along I-70.
Around two weeks ago, the speed limit along that stretch of I-70 was reduced because of safety concerns. It’s roughly a seven-mile stretch of interstate that went from 75 mph to 70.
In order to make the drop in speed more clear to drivers, the city is installing flashing speed signs Thursday.
This was a project between the Colorado Department of Transportation, the City of Grand Junction and the Horizon Drive Business Improvement District.
