GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A presentation at the Central Library helped senior citizens learn about staying safe online.
AARP was in charge of the meeting, and helped seniors learn about the different ways scammers can fool victims.
It covered all types of scams, like identity and romance scams, and helped seniors understand ways to avoid falling for online traps.
"We are seeing lots of scams coming over social media, and one of the most common ones we are seeing coming from social media, are romance scams. And those are one of the most important ones to warn people of, just to tell them there are bad actors out there, looking for people on social media," said spokesman for AARP ElderWatch, Mark Fetterhoff.
