FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- District 51 hosted their second information meeting for parents Wednesday night. The topic, pot and opioid use.
The goal of the meeting Wednesday night was to make sure parents know the signs and dangers of drug use and abuse.
Local law enforcement says knowing those signs is key to making sure students get to the resources they need. Those could be anything from a change in behavior and hobbies to stuff going missing from your house.
The district says they regularly have these conversations with students, but want parents to be on board and have the resources too.
"My hope is really that they just walk away with a little more information than they came with so that they can better support their student," Sara Hammond, a school social worker, said.
There will be two more sessions. The next one is about texting and social media.
