GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Redlands Middle School and Broadway Elementary were put on shelter in place the morning of May 13th.
Law enforcement says the schools were put on alert because of a "juvenile in crisis" in a neighborhood close to the schools.
The school district and the sheriff's office would not say if the juvenile was a student at either school.
The person was located in less than 30 minutes.
"It was in the area next to Redlands Middle School as well as Broadway Elementary. So as a precaution, we put both schools on Shelter in Place, we take safety and security of students very seriously," said Spokesperson for Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Megan Terlecky.
The shelter in place was lifted at both schools before 11:00.
