GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Dozens of people walked to help homeless veterans on Wednesday.

The Veteran's Affairs of Western Colorado hosted their annual 9th annual "VA 2K". The event is to help raise funds for homeless vets.

"When you think about what our veterans have done for our country, and many of them have suffered and sometimes they become homeless. This program helps them find their way back," said Elaine Corder, VA Employee Health Nurse.

The VA hopes to collect a $1,000 in order to give bus passes to these vets in need.

"I needed groceries, or I needed to get somewhere to work on my resume, or just anything, that bus pass was like a golden ticket," said Jeremy Harris, former homeless veteran.
