Project helps veterans get legal advice

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A group from the front range was at Mesa County Central Library, connecting veterans with resources they need.

The University of Denver Veteran's Advocacy project held an outreach event, to give veterans advice, on things like veteran-related legal issues and military discharge upgrades.

The group says they want to help veterans who were dishonorably discharged, or need help getting a lawyer.

The goal is to help veterans get the financial or medical benefits they need.

"We take the cases we can handle which are the OTH discharge upgrades or other upgrades. We handle other VA work, and then try to hook veterans up with other lawyers in the community, so sort of like a middle man to other resources," said project representative, Timothy R. Franklin.
