Patriot Tour rolls through Fruita

FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Bikers from Glenwood Springs rolled into Fruita to hand off a very special American flag, to local bikers in the Grand Valley.

This was all part of the Patriot Tour, put on by the Nation of Patriots, a 501c3 group that aims to raise awareness and money for disabled veterans and their families.

These volunteers work with VA facilities and other veteran organizations to find what veterans are in need of the money.

One veteran says he's glad to support the cause, after a rough return from Vietnam.

"None of us came back expecting to be a hero or a legend, but, at the airport we were called foul names, and spit on. It was a whole different time and place. And most of us were just in our 20's," said Vietnam Veteran, James Anthony.

The flag will travel more than 14,000 miles, until it's returned to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in September.
