GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It's time to "bee" aware of all that pollinators do for us because it's "Pollinators Week".
It's all to bring awareness to declining bee populations. Bee populations have been on the decline for a while due to pesticides and toxic chemicals that people use on their yards and farms. A local beekeeper, Anthony Fronczk, says bees are crucial for the environment and ecosystem, not just for honey, but for a good harvest too.
"Well, if we didn't have, for instance, honey bees we wouldn't have all the fruits and vegetables that we have here today. We have them, but it wouldn't be to the extent for the population of our world," said Anthony Fronczk, beekeeper.
He says instead of using pesticides to kill weeds, pull them out by hand.
