FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Western Colorado Research Center hosted its annual Field Day event, in Fruita, Friday morning.
Dozens of people flocked to the fields of the research center, run by Colorado State University, to learn about topics like new farming techniques, water-use and crop research.
Many of the participants were young farmers, but some of the attendees were just curious members of the community.
"We've gone through a great effort to try to engage the community and talk to different people. We've had talks on conservation tillage, talks on cover crops and talks on hemp," said Perry Cabot, Colorado State University Research Scientist.
The research center hosts different events throughout the year to inform interested community members about different farming topics. Those at the center say the public is always welcome to stop by with questions or for more information.
