Shelledy Elementary welcomes students back with parade

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Today was the first day of school for D-51 students.

Teachers at Shelledy Elementary had a "Rock Star Welcome" for their students. Friends, parents and teachers stood on the sidelines to cheer on the kids as they walked through school doors.

The students were greeted with music, bubbles, donuts, and lots of high fives.

“You know it's great to watch our kids reach milestones. I absolutely love my kids and love spending time with them. So it's always hard to watch them go but they are in great hands here. This staff is amazing and we love them. And, it's great to be a part of this, a part of something that welcomes them back to school,” says Fruita Mom Kristen Bunch.

This was the second annual Rock Star Welcome.
