GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Although flu season doesn't peak until late Fall, a local Walgreens will be giving flu-shots to customers who want it.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the vaccine doesn't kick-in until 2 weeks after getting the shot, which is why doctors say it is better to get the shot before flu season comes around.
They recommend anyone from the ages of six months and older to get a flu-shot once a year. Walk-ins are allowed.
"CDC recommends that everybody gets a flu shot at the beginning of the season, no later than October, per their recommendations," says Pharmacy Manager DJ Reynolds. "So, now that we have the vaccines in, we have started to vaccinate for the upcoming flu-season."
Walgreens partners with United Nations Foundations for "Get a Shot, Give a Shot." When someone gets a shot at Walgreens, they give a shot to a child in a developing country.
