Local rock crawl competition

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- People from the community with a passion for something called rock crawling met up to compete in the “Fall Brawl and Scale Competition.”

The competition was held at the Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead, and is put on by the “OutCast Crawlers.”

People buy electric car kits or buy seperate car pieces, and then design the cars how they want.

Those who compete in the competition have to go through different courses, guiding their cars through rocks. But, they lose points if their cars rollover or backs up.

“Well, we come out usually, hour, two hours before we get here and we look over the terrain, see how it looks. We got to make sure that visually we can see if the cars can make it or not, we don’t know for show. But, we set up three course today, regular comp-style courses, where all the points matter,” says OutCast Crawlers Ryan Tousley.

The competitions happen around twice a year, but the group gets together every month. They say anyone is welcome.
