GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- September is National Workforce Development Month in Mesa County. That’s why the Workforce Center held a job fair today.
A program called “Job Corps” hosted the event. It’s a training program that teaches people between the ages of 16 and 24, many of whom feel like college isn’t the path for them.
They can learn about finance and business and even construction.
The Job Corps program in Collbran, Colo., is a part of Mesa County Partners and they have on-campus dorms for students.
"We want young people to understand that they have an opportunity with us to become more than what they ever thought possible. To learn about what it means to be apart of the communities where they live and work. And to be able to go back to those communities, or go new places and be able to contribute to those communities,” says Center Director Evonnne Stites.
