DELTA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A bipartisan bill that would allow marijuana companies to legally use banks passed a major hurdle in the house on Wednesday.
Because federal and state laws differ when it comes to pot sales, it's been difficult for Colorado pot shops to transfer money and pay taxes.
That's because they can't bank like normal businesses in the state can and have to deal mainly in cash.
Green Meadows Dispensary in Delta says if the bill becomes law, it would be a big help for their business.
The bill, known as the SAFE Banking Act, was introduced by Senator Gardner. It will now make its way to the Senate.
